Our History
The Glencrest Civic League Neighborhood Association ('The League') was officially organized in August of 1950. Prior to that date, it was known as the Oak Crest Civic League, which was founded in 1944. It comprises of volunteers in the community who give their time and efforts to improving our neighborhood.
A few accomplishments and improvements to our neighborhood made by The Glencrest Civic League include:
- (1998-2002) Raised and procured over $75,000 in funds for remodeling of the Bradley Center
- (1993-1997) A membership increase of 400+
- (1995) Initiated tradition of Christmas Fellowship and community-wide display of "red bows" symbolizing community unity
- (1996 & 1997) Twice recipient of the Good Neighborhood Award
- (1997-2000) Membership increase of 500+
- (2001) Membership increase of 600+
- Publication of the community monthly newsletter
- Improved communication between elected city officials and the community
- Improved streets, lights, and drainage
